Jess and Leonard got married this past weekend in NYC, and it was such an incredible way to kick off my 2016 wedding season! We’re finally getting some warm weather, which made for an absolutely gorgeous day! I met up with Jess first in her room at the Trump SoHo and she was finishing getting ready to see Leonard before the ceremony began. Her stylists were busy tucking in her hair pins and freshening up her lip gloss as she and Leo’s children excitedly ran around getting themselves ready. As the clock ticked down to their first look, she slipped into her short wedding dress (with some of the most beautiful details I’ve seen), strapped on her sparkly Jimmy Choos, and eagerly walked toward the elevators.
I sat with her downstairs in Koi as we waited for my second photographer Crissy to come downstairs with Leo and get him into place in the courtyard. She walked up behind him and gently tapped him on the shoulder. They immediately embraced, and did not leave each other’s sides for more than a few short moments throughout the rest of the day.
The light in the courtyard next to Trump SoHo was absolutely beautiful!
We decided to go to Washington Square Park for a few formal photos. Leo actually requested some of the photos here be in black and white because of the shadows under the famous arch, and clearly he had a good idea! I seriously have the best couples…they make my job so easy!! The man with the guitar was serenading us with Matisyahu’s One Day, and oddly enough, we heard the same song playing in the lobby as soon as we got back from the photo shoot. We also apparently missed Adam Sandler in said lobby by about 10 minutes!
I always love walking shots, but the energy in Washington Square Park on this day made it even better. It was one of the warmest, sunniest days we’ve had in a while and there were people everywhere.
We stopped a few times for a quick portrait amongst the crowds because it was just too beautiful there!
I also had to use the hotel itself as a backdrop because the light was flawless.
Jess wore this beautiful smile all day long! I’m also still obsessing over that gold lace cuff bracelet.
In between the *real* photos, they asked me to take one with their iPhone. I think they were quite pleased with how fabulous they looked.
I loved this area of the courtyard. The benches were empty and the ivy looked so pretty.
Bloom designed and provided the gorgeous flowers for the big day. I loved this combination of white orchids and deep purple calla lilies.
The view from Trump SoHo’s SoHi room is absolutely breathtaking.
The bouquet Jess chose from Bloom was gorgeous as well. The light pink calla lilies worked perfectly with her dress, and the rest of the decor.
Another gorgeous arrangement from Bloom Flowers.
The happy (and beautiful) family!! Jess and Leo’s children were some of the sweetest kids ever, but also incredibly fun. They each spoke during the reception, and their toasts were both thoughtful and well written. Their son nearly brought me to tears when speaking about his mother, and how much Leo and his new sister mean to him.
Leo’s red heart cufflinks rank highly in my top groom fashion statements of all time.
The Ketubah signing was filled with so many happy moments.
I absolutely adore the way they’re looking at one another here.
But seriously…those smiles!! And that cherry blossom chuppah! How gorgeous is that? It was so intricately designed . The designer from Bloom told us that he had picked out the poles specifically to give it a light, airy feel .
The ceremony was both moving…
And cause for some serious celebration!
Leo and Jess shared a quick moment overlooking the city lights at dusk before one of the wildest horah’s I have ever seen! 23 minutes of nonstop dancing!
I love that they ended with this group hug/family huddle!
After their moving toasts, Jake took a moment to wipe a tear from his mother’s eye. So glad I caught this one!
I love any time a groom spins his bride around on the dance floor…but when they look this good and have this amazing of a view? Even better!
Serious dance skills.
Jess and Leo, thank you for allowing me to document your day and kick off 2016 in style!!! Wishing you both and your beautiful family many, many years of happiness.
