Q. How long have you been doing this?  Is it your only job?

A. I began shooting in 2006, professionally as my own business in 2008, and escaped my office job to become a full time photographer in 2010.  I am absolutely head over heels in love with photography.  I study it daily, I shoot daily (seriously.  One of my cameras lives on my kitchen counter), and I can't imagine my life without photography.  It's a huge part of who I am, and I am constantly seeking out ways to push myself and become better.


Q. How many weddings do you shoot in a year?

A. I typically limit myself to an average of 17 weddings each year, with a max of one per weekend.   This allows me to show up bright and cheery on your wedding day, and not sleepy from a  14  hour wedding the day before.  It also allows me to have weekend availability for engagement and other sessions.  Woohoo!


Q. Do we get the digitals?  Are they edited?

A. Yes!  I include the digital files with every package, along with paper proofs for weddings.  The files are edited, un-watermarked, and ready to go!


Q. What kind of camera do you use?  Do you have backups?

A. My main gear is all top of the line Canon, with some fun stuff thrown in.  Go ahead, ask me about my photo lightsabers!  I have backups of everything, as I tend to be overly cautious.  Backup cameras, lenses, flashes, batteries, you name it...  And my camera even has two drives, so it can back up your photos onto a second memory card as I'm shooting!  I have a lengthy backup system in place for files, the details of which I will happily bore you with if desired! 


Q. Will you be the one shooting our wedding, or someone from your team?

A. From day one, it will always be me answering your emails, returning your calls and texts, photographing you, and designing for you.  Unless I am seriously ill or injured (which has yet to happen, knock on wood!), I will be the one photographing your wedding day!  I am very hands on throughout the entire process, which is one reason it's so important we click.


Q. So um...what happens if you *are* seriously ill or injured?

A. Of course this is a situation no one wants, especially me.  However, I do have a variety of backup plans in place for just this event, including a network of incredible local photographers behind me.  If you have a second shooter in your package, they would become the main and a replacement second shooter will stand in.  I take my health very seriously, as being at your wedding is a top priority, but I also believe that there's no such thing as being too prepared.


Q. Will you travel for my wedding/engagement/family photo/birthday party?

A. Yes!!  I love to travel!  Seeing new places is one of the most exciting things for me, and working in new spaces inspires me like nothing else.  A surcharge and/or accommodations are required for some locations, except the birthday party thing...you're totally inviting me as a guest, right??


Q. Can you recommend a videographer/band/florist/hairdresser/restaurant in Aruba?

A. Yes.  Yes to ALL of those.  But I typically like to do this after we've chatted, so I can make sure I'm suggesting a good fit.  Except for the Aruba thing...then check out La Trattoria el Faro Blanco.  And pack me in your suitcase.


Q. So, we have this crazy idea for our engagement session...

A. Say no more, I'm in.  There's a reason I've started calling them engagement adventures.  We work together to create something custom, fun, and YOU.  I've climbed mountains, gone ice skating (yes, camera in hand), jumped into the ocean, talked my way into locations where no photos are allowed, you name it.  I also love ending the shoot with a plate full of wings and/or some cupcakes, so let's hear what you've got!


Q. This would probably be a good time to ask about insurance...

A. Good point!  I'm fully insured with the required liability amount for all venues.  My gear is insured, too.  And no, I didn't have to use that after diving into the ocean or ice skating! (phew)


Q. Are you a member of any professional organizations?  Have you won any super cool awards?

A. Why yes, I am and I have!  I'm currently a member of Fearless Photographers, and WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association).  I'm proud to have won awards not just for my high level of customer service, but for my photography as well.  My awards include being named one of the Top 100 Photographers by Photographer's Brandsmash, WPPI Accolades of Excellence, Shoot & Share - 1st place wedding moments, The Knot's Best of 2015, LIWeddings Best of, Best of LI, and The Norah Awards (Dream Wedding Photographer).  I've been featured in the NY Times, Daily News, Huffington Post and Unjersey Bride, to name a few!  


Q. So...what do you do for fun?

A. Of course photography is an easy answer, but I swear I have other interests as well!  I'm in love with staying fit by way of weightlifting and macro tracking (I even have a pretty kickass home gym), but you can bet I take FULL advantage of my weekly cheat days.  I have a mild [incredibly intense] addiction to cupcakes, bacon, and guacamole.  Chipotle IS my life, and is Shake Shack.  I live 5 minutes away from both, and that's kind of dangerous. As mentioned above, I adore traveling and am a pro at planning last minute vacations just days in advance.  Exploring new places invigorates me, but I can never get enough of Aruba and Disney World.  I live for music.  My taste is bizarrely eclectic, and makes no sense.  Very few things compare to seeing one of my favorite bands live.  I've seen No Doubt more times than I can count, most recently front row center at the Global Citizens Festival.  I love hiking, biking, boating, and all things outdoors.  Other interests include superheroes (Batman and Wolverine are my favorites), Star Wars, glitter, nail polish, glitter nail polish, dancing in public, fonts (yeah, I know), puppies, the beach, being ridiculous, surrounding myself with the most awesome friends a girl could ever ask for, and stationery (I had literally just typed this when I asked my husband "What do I like?" and he said "Well, you do love stationery..." no lie.) Speaking of, I enjoy most of these things with the company of my wonderful husband and partner in ridiculousness.  We're been together more than half of our lives, since we were 15 years old, and he is truly my best friend in the entire universe.  He surprises me with heart-shaped pancakes, encourages me in the gym, makes me smile non-stop, has supported my business since before it was a business, and is generally pretty awesome.  I'm also mama to two seriously awesome kids, Theo and Eliza.  Theo is a daredevil who makes me laugh non-stop until I cry.  Eliza is the chubbiest, cuddliest little baby in the universe, and she's becoming quite the daredevil herself!  I could go on about them forever, but that's not why you're here, now is it??
